If a page on your site doesn't load, an error message shall be displayed to the site visitor. Because there are different errors, there are different pages that will show up, but what is common for all of them is that they're generic and in all probability will have absolutely nothing that is similar to the layout of your Internet site, which may be frustrating for any site visitor. This is the main reason why website hosting companies have introduced a function known as Custom Error Pages. For a wide variety of different errors, website visitors will see your custom content, which can be informative or humorous, based on your taste, and which will match the design of your site, so the pages won't look like they're not part of your Internet site at all. You may use this option for a number of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Shared Web Hosting
You can set up custom error pages for each of your domains or subdomains. The feature is supported by all shared web hosting
package that we provide, so as soon as you log in to the Hepsia CP and visit the Hosted Domains section, you may click on the Edit button for a domain/subdomain and in the pop-up that will be displayed, you could choose the type of error page which should show up - a default one from our system, a typical Apache web server page or a custom one. For the latter option, you must specify the URL to the page, so if you use custom made pages, you should upload the files in your Internet hosting account first. Another way is to use an .htaccess file positioned inside the domain or subdomain folder with a line for each and every error type. The exact syntax can be seen in our Knowledge Base, so you can use this function even if you do not have any previous experience.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Adding your own pages for any of the four error types to any web site hosted inside a semi-dedicated server
account with us shall be very simple and won't take more than several clicks. As soon as you upload the files in your account, you can navigate to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and edit any of the domains and subdomains listed there via an intuitive interface with drop-down navigation. You could pick what page should display for each and every error type. Your choices are a default Apache web server page or a page from our system, and custom made pages. If you select the abovementioned option, you must type in the link to every page in your account, then save the change. The link or the kind of page that will be shown in case a user encounters an error can be modified whenever you want. If you are more experienced, you may use an .htaccess file to be able to set personalized error pages as well, as opposed to using our integrated generator software instrument, and if you choose this option, the file has to be positioned inside the root directory of a particular domain or subdomain.
